Who got a promotion this month? Who got a new job? Who started their own company? Find out the latest happenings in the SMPS Network.

Pierce Goodwin Alexander & Linville Architects (PGAL) has promoted Cathy R. Boyce, in its Boca Raton office, to become a Principal with the firm. Boyce oversees business development for PGAL’s East Coast operation. She spearheaded PGAL’s national branding program and systemwide corporate marketing materials and has played a significant role in large-scale corporate wins including the planning for Boston-Logan International Airport’s $350 million Consolidated Rental Car Garage. Boyce was the founding president of SMPS South Florida.

PGAL also recently promoted Patty McBean, marketing manager of Business Development in its Houston office, to Associate in recognition of her continuing efforts to elevate the perception of the firm industrywide and for utilizing superior leadership abilities and team building skills to deliver measurable project success. McBean is a member of SMPS Houston. PGAL (www.pgal.com) is a Houston-based national design firm specializing in architecture, engineering, planning, interior architecture, program management, and technology planning services. The firm has 200 employees in 9 offices nationwide. 

Paul E. James, CPSM, Business Developer with Harvard Jolly Architects in Orlando, FL, has been appointed by The City of Orlando to serve on its Building and Fire Codes Board of Appeal, representing District 4. This Board will hear appeals from decisions by the Fire Chief and Building Official in resolving conflicts between the Building and Fire Prevention Codes. James has been an active member of SMPS Central Florida since 1994, serving in a variety of capacities including Chapter President in 1998–1999.  In 2002 his work with the College of Business Marketing Department resulted in the formation of SMPS–UCF, the first student chapter of SMPS. On a national level, James served as Chair of the 2001 SMPS National Marketing Conference, Chair of the 2002 Striving for Excellence Committee, a member of the 2006 Nominating Committee, and on the 2007 CPSM Exam Writing Task Force. Founded in 1938, Harvard Jolly Architects (www.harvardjolly.com) is one of Florida’s oldest and largest architecture firms, with offices in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Orlando, Ft. Myers, Ft. Lauderdale, and Jacksonville.

Allison Copeland Levine has joined Studio Graphique, Inc., as the first Marketing Director in the firm’s 10-year history. Prior to joining the firm, Allison served as the Marketing Director for Schmidt Copeland Parker Stevens, Inc., a nationally recognized architecture and landscape architecture firm. Levine is actively involved in SMPS Northeast Ohio and served as the 2005–2006 Programs Co-Chair and the 2002 Sponsorship Chair. Studio Graphique, Inc. (www.designwithdirection.com), is a Cleveland, OH-based brand development and environmental graphic design firm.

Ware Malcomb is proud to announce the promotion of Ruth Brajevich to Chief Marketing Officer. Brajevich joined Ware Malcomb in 1998 as Director of Marketing, and in 2004, she was promoted to Principal of Marketing. Her strategic vision for Ware Malcomb’s marketing methods has been instrumental in increasing the firm’s brand recognition in its markets. Brajevich is a member of SMPS Los Angeles. Based in Irvine, CA, Ware Malcomb (www.waremalcomb.com) is a national architecture, planning, interior design, and graphic design firm providing professional services for commercial development and corporate clients throughout the United States and Mexico. 

Joanna Del Moral, Director of Marketing and New Business Development with the Orlando office of VOA Associates Incorporated, has been promoted to Senior Associate. Del Moral joined VOA in October 2004 as an Associate. As a Senior Associate, she will continue to lead the firm's marketing efforts in the development of new business, including research and assessment of new and emerging markets and potential clients/projects. Voted 2004 Member of the Year in SMPS Central Florida, Del Moral served on the chapter’s Board from 2003 to 2005 and was the 2006 Co-Chair for the chapter’s Education Committee. With a current staff of 200 in 7 offices worldwide, VOA (www.voa.com) specializes in creating environments for hospitality, cultural, and leisure activities; higher education; public/government; commercial; healthcare, science and technology; and Department of Defense facilities throughout the United States and internationally.

David Koren, CPSM, has joined Perkins Eastman as an Associate Principal and Director of Marketing. Based in New York, he is responsible for providing overall marketing strategy and leading the firm’s business development efforts. Prior to joining Perkins Eastman, Koren’s 15 years of professional experience included being a Senior Associate and Marketing Director of Gensler's Northeast Region. Koren is the author of the Architect’s Essentials of Marketing, a basic guide to marketing for architects, published by John Wiley & Sons and endorsed by the American Institute of Architects. He was the 2005–2006 President of SMPS New York and the 2003 recipient of the chapter’s Marketing Mentor Award.

In addition, Stephanie Chippas has joined the New York office of Perkins Eastman as Director of Business Development with a focus on the New York commercial market. Prior to joining the firm, Chippas oversaw marketing and business development at Richard L. Hoffman Associates. Chippas is a member of SMPS New York. Perkins Eastman (www.perkinseastman.com) is one of the largest architecture, programming, planning, and interior design firms in North America. The firm’s practice areas include corporate interiors, retail, office, mixed-use, education, housing, healthcare, senior living, cultural institutions, public-sector facilities, and urban design.

Kristy Alley has been promoted to Principal of Sparling in its Seattle office. Alley joined Sparling in 1998 and has been instrumental in marketing activity and helping to build Sparling’s brand identity. Alley is an active SMPS Seattle member, having served on the chapter’s Board of Directors and currently serving as a roundtable facilitator. Alley has earned five SMPS National Marketing Communication Awards including a Best of Show for Sparling’s corporate identity program. Founded in Seattle more than 60 years ago, Sparling (www.sparling.com) is a specialty electrical engineering and technology consulting firm with offices in Seattle and Portland.
