2006-07 SMPS Committees Designated
The National Board of Directors has designated seven committees to advance specific SMPS initiatives and goals in 2006-07.
Volunteers serving on committees were selected from applications submitted by members during Summer 2006 and chairs were appointed by President Peter J. Kienle, FSMPS, CPSM, and President-Elect Donna J. Corlew, FSMPS, CPSM.
Business Development Institute
Chair: Gilbert S. Brindley, P.E., CPSM, Executive Vice President, PSI, Pittsburgh, PA
Mission: Provide a forum for educating business development professionals and others who want to improve their sales skills.
Certification Committee
Chair: Donna Lynn Jakubowicz, CPSM, Corporate Marketing Director, Barton Malow Company, Southfield, MI
Mission: Improve the stature and status of professional service marketers.
Education Committee
Chair: Gina A. Bedoya, CPSM, President, Bedoya Business Strategies, Scotch Plains, NJ
Mission: To identify and recommend valuable, timely, feasible topics and possible delivery methods for education on a national level.
Marketing Communications Awards Committee
Chair: Kim Niedzielski, Senior Marketing Manager, HGA Architects & Engineers, Minneapolis, MN
Mission: The Marketing Communications Awards Program (MCA) is a long-standing tradition of SMPS and provides professional service firms the opportunity to showcase their best marketing efforts each year. This competition affords firms the opportunity to learn from one another through competition and provides the Society with a significant nondues revenue source.
National Conference Committee
Co-Chairs: M. Sharyn Yorio, FSMPS, CPSM, President, Sustainable Marketing Inc., Kinnelon, NJ, and Martin Palmer Sharpless Jr., AIA, Regional Manager of Business Development, Gilbane Building Company, Laurel, MD
Mission: To plan a financial successful three-day conference, offering superior educational programming.
Presidents’ Leadership Symposium
Chair: Kevin Hebblethwaite, CPSM, President, EDI Ltd., Atlanta, GA
Mission: To engage incoming chapter presidents with knowledge, tools, and insight to lead strong chapters.
Striving for Excellence
Chair: Scott E. Mickle, President, AEC Marketing Solutions, Charlotte, NC
Mission: For chapters to share innovative ideas with other chapters and receive recognition for excellence in their overall chapter management and service to members (including Web sites and newsletters). To serve as a source of new ideas including blueprints for chapter education programs, industry awareness activities, and/or community involvement.
