SMPS Staffers Earn Certified Association Executive Credential
The American Society of Association Executives has announced that SMPS National CEO Ron Worth, FSMPS, CPSM, and Membership Director Tina Myers have earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential.
The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry. Less than five percent of all association professionals have earned the CAE. Approximately 3,300 association professionals currently hold the credential, which was first awarded in 1961.
To be designated as a Certified Association Executive, a candidate must have a minimum of three years’ experience in nonprofit association management, complete a minimum of 75 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination on association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. To maintain the certification, individuals must participate in ongoing professional development and activities in association and nonprofit management.
Ron Worth joined the SMPS National team as CEO in 1999, having served as executive vice president of the Washington Building Congress and after spending 25 years in the design and construction industry as national marketing manager for the Ceco Corporation. Tina Myers came to SMPS National three years ago from the National Association of College and University Business Officers.
The American Society of Association Executives is an individual membership organization made up of nearly 23,000 association executives and industry partners representing nearly 12,000 organizations.
