SMPS’ Hurricane Relief Efforts
Through the combined efforts of the chapters, members, and national organization, SMPS donated $16,337 to the Red Cross for ongoing support of the victims and evacuees of the devastating 2005 hurricane season.
In September, following Hurricane Katrina, SMPS National made a contribution of $5,300 to the American Red Cross in the name of its members. In addition, the National Board members pledged $100 each through the Society.
Throughout the autumn months, SMPS chapters held fundraisers and took up collections to support the hurricane relief effort. We are proud to report that the chapters’ fundraising efforts and individual member contributions sent through the SMPS National Office totaled $10,337.
