Wanted: Creative Donations for 2005 Silent Auction
The SMPS Foundation is seeking donations of creative, innovative, and fun items to auction during its annual fundraising event, scheduled for August 12 in New Orleans during "Build Business."

Funds raised during the annual Silent Auction support original research to advance the body of knowledge in the field of professional services marketing and enhance our understanding of evolving marketing practices and trends.

The auction is a great opportunity for individual members and their firms to receive national recognition for supporting industry research and education, as well as a chance to give back to the profession. Donations are tax deductible, and all donors are acknowledged on the SMPS web site, in Marketer, and in the auction catalog distributed to all attendees at the conference.

In addition, the Foundation's Silent Auction has become a highlight of the annual conference—generating a little friendly competition and a lot of fun for a good cause. This year's event will be held during the Awards Gala on Friday night, August 12.

Want to help but not sure what to donate? Here are some popular items donated for past auctions:

•Artwork and Handicrafts

Paintings, sculpture, woodwork, handcrafted clothing, quilts, antiques

•Celebrity Memorabilia

Photos and autographs of famous (or infamous) celebrities, CDs, souvenirs

•Great Escapes

Gift certificates for famous attractions, sporting events, shows or concerts, or complimentary use of a vacation property

•Jewelry, China, and Crystal Objects

•Local and Regional Specialties

Anything native to or representative of your part of the country, such as artwork, clothing, jewelry or gemstones, crafts, cookware or dishware, pottery, food, or wines
Please consider a gift certificate for hard-to-transport or perishable items.

•Sporting Equipment or Memorabilia

Golf equipment, sports clothing, commemorative souvenirs

•Wines, Beer, and Spirits

•Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunities

Join the fun and support a great cause! But act soon: To be included in the auction catalog, we need to know about your donation before May 15.

To print an Auction Pledge Form, please visit www.buildbusiness.org/05pledge_form.doc. Information on shipping or bringing your donation to the conference in New Orleans will be sent to donors in June. If you have questions, please contact Foundation Liaison Earl Klinger at the SMPS National Office at 1.800.292.7677, x222, or e-mail earl@smps.org. [ return to top ]
