Dennis King, Corporate Chairman of HarleyEllis, Heads SMPS Michigan Board of Influence
Donna Jakubowicz, CPSM, Corporate Marketing Director, Barton Malow, and President, SMPS Michigan
SMPS Michigan has launched an innovative initiative to anticipate industry trends and our firms' needs and to provide tools to enhance our member's abilities and improve the competitive edge of our member firms.

Eleven senior executives have joined their collective energies and insight "to leverage SMPS marketing expertise for the benefit of our entire industry, while collaborating with other very capable professional organizations," says Dennis King, Corporate Chairman of HarleyEllis and head of SMPS Michigan’s Board of Influence.

Firms serving the built environment see client needs and demands changing quickly. SMPS Michigan understands this dynamic environment and is taking steps to remain at the forefront of this industry. "Numerous professional development courses and reams of research are available for marketing products. This knowledge base is largely absent for marketing professional services. SMPS is taking key steps to fill this gap on a national level," says Sheryl Maibach, FSMPS, Vice President of Sales and Marketing with Barton Malow.

The newly-created Board of Influence is a powerful element of the newly re-organized Michigan Chapter. The board's members have been carefully selected from a broad base of professional firms, all serving the built environment. These senior executives come from highly regarded firms who truly understand marketing and embrace its value. The Board of Influence represents a collection of the best of the best.

The SMPS Michigan’s Board of Influence is:

  • Tom Doyle, Construction Real Estate Partner, Plante & Moran, PLLC
  • Diane Engardio, Marketing Director, Signature Associates-ONCORE International
  • Kim Fricke, President, Professional Concepts Insurance Agency
  • Kevin Hoppe, Executive Vice President, NTH Consultants, Ltd.
  • Jeffrey Kaczmarek, Michigan Economic Development Corporation
  • Dennis King, Corporate Chairman, HarleyEllis
  • Sheryl Maibach, FSMPS, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Barton Malow
  • David Moncur, President, Emsix
  • Brian M. Runde, Vice President, Peter Basso & Associates
  • Terry Simpson, Vice President, Atwell Hicks
  • Bruce Truex, Senior Partner, Secrest Wardle.

These industry leaders will provide valuable insight and guide SMPS Michigan as the chapter refines its focus and positions itself as a vital marketing partner for its members and member firms. As summarized by Kevin Hoppe, Executive Vice President with NTH Consultants, "SMPS must understand what firms in our industry need to meet current and future business demands. By talking to our industry's leaders, we will be able to formulate a direction for the organization that will strengthen individuals, firms, and our industry."
